CHILDREN’S CANCER
FOUNDATION (CCF)
On 5 September 2012, volunteers from
Straits Trading and the Tecity Group
organised a baking lesson for beneficiaries
from the Children’s Cancer Foundation
(CCF) at Creative Culinaire.
Therewas strong response to the event as
about 30 people comprising beneficiaries
(aged 6 to 11) as well as their siblings and
parents, attended the lesson, accompanied
by staff volunteers from Straits Trading
Corporate Office & the Tecity Group.
The event was both educational and fun
for the children and their families as they
were introduced to the “science” and
processof doughmakingbyChef JudyKoh
in the professional baking studio. This
was followed by a practical hands-on
session, as the excited kidsmixeddifferent
ingredients and sifted the flour with the
cocoa and baking soda. After completing
the steps as earlier demonstrated by the
chef, they were treated to refreshments
at the adjoining café.
The most enthralling segment was on
makingdecorations as kids crowded round
the chef’s table to learn the techniques of
creating different varieties of cupcakes.
To reward the kids and their families for
their baking efforts, Chef Judy presented
prizes to the teams deemed the most
efficient and the best in cleanliness.
As parting gifts, the beneficiaries and
their families were given their creations
to bring home (neatly packed in boxes)
as well as picture frames containing the
