SOCIETY FOR THE PHYSICALLY
DISABLED (SPD)
On 4th May 2012, Straits Trading staff
volunteers from the Corporate Office,
Property and Hospitality divisions
accompanied beneficiaries from the
Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD)
for a tour of Singapore’s major sights
and attractions onboard the HiPPO, a
topless double-decker bus that offered
a unique bird’s eye view all around.
Beginning at Suntec City, our guests
embarked on a three and a half hour
long heritage and city tour that went
past iconic attractions like Clarke Quay,
Chinatown, Little India and Kampong
Glam, Orchard Road, The Singapore
Botanic Gardens and The Esplanade
Theatres on the Bay.
It proved to be a thoroughly entertaining
experience for our beneficiaries who
savoured the breezy experience outdoor
and animatedly took in the colourful
sights and sounds around them, aided
by narration from a HiPtainer who dished
out interesting stories and anecdotes.
The tour ended back at Suntec City,
where our volunteers assisted to prepare
packets of set dinners that were presented
to our beneficiaries, before seeing them
off for the day.
It was indeeda fun and fulfillingexperience
for everyone involved.
