SGX Bull Charge Charity Run 2015
On 13 November 2015, a group of about 20 staff from the Straits
Trading Group and Tecity Group took part in the annual SGX
Bull Charge Charity Run 2015. The SGX Bull Charge Charity
Run brings together partners from the financial community and
SGX-listed companies for a charity run in support of the needs
of underprivileged children and families, persons with disabilities,
and the elderly. The run was part of a charity drive to raise
money for four charities, namely the Asian Women’s Welfare
Association (AWWA), Autism Association of Singapore (AAS), Fei
Yue Community Services (FYCS) and Shared Services for Charities
(SSC).
Goodie Bag Packing Alongside SPD Beneficiaries
On 17 November 2015, about 20 volunteers from Straits Trading
took part in a sheltered workshop at SPD Singapore (formerly
known as the Society for the Physically Disabled) working
alongside beneficiaries from SPD Singapore to pack about
1,000 goodie bags for the Standard Chartered Marathon. Our
volunteers worked hand in hand with the beneficiaries and
helped ensure that items were packed properly and adequately.
This proved to be an enjoyable, yet enriching experience as it
afforded opportunities for our volunteers to engage with the
beneficiaries in animated fashion.
As part of this CSR activity, Straits Trading also catered bento
lunch sets for the SPD beneficiaries from Metta Café, which is
part of Metta School, a Singapore organisation working for the
welfare of the less fortunate that runs, among other things, a
school for children with special needs.
